We talk a lot about trusting our instincts, but handing that responsibility over to your dog feels like a whole different relationship. Leo, the Czech-DDR workingline German Shepherd from @leo_theworkinglinegsd, was out on what started as a pretty normal winter walk. All of a sudden, something changed. Not in an obvious way, but enough that Leo clearly picked up on it before his human did.

At that point, it stopped feeling like a casual walk and started feeling a lot more urgent. No wonder the clip has more than 27,000 likes. In the video, the dog wasn’t pulling on the leash just to be difficult — he was steering things in one clear direction: home.

Dog wants to reach home quicker for owner’s sake

The video starts with an overcast sky. No snow yet, but Leo’s body language says a full-blown storm is imminent. You can’t really keep a German Shepherd out of the thick of things when safety is involved. They have a knack for noticing things early.

As the wind picked up, Leo’s pace accelerated into a determined trot. In the video, we see the dog pulling on his leash faster with every frame. He was just making sure his human was keeping up.

His owner later wrote, “Relying on wild instincts is not always a bad thing,” and watching the video, it’s easy to see why. Leo even threw in a few barks while crossing the street, acting like a furry guard to ensure they got on the other side quickly.

Before long, the comments filled up with people sharing similar stories about their own dogs. One person mentioned their pup predicted an earthquake in California, while another credited their Husky with dodging several rainstorms.

Watching Leo move, it’s obvious that guarding instinct is still very much part of who he is. He navigated the final stretch with such purpose that you can almost feel the urgency through the screen.

By the time they’re safely home, the storm has fully arrived. Leo wasn’t being “bad” on the leash at all. He was only protecting his human the way he knows how. Turns out Leo didn’t need an app to know what was coming.
