Coming home from vacation usually comes with unpacking, laundry, pending tasks, and the “we’re never leaving again” feeling, but a sweet Instagram video shows that for Duzo the Golden Retriever, his owner’s vacation comes with a full-on staring episode. Instagram user @buzotales shared Duzo’s video as he stations himself right by his owner’s bedside. And he just stares at them. No bouncing around the room or demanding a toy — he locks in like he is in awe of his owner.

Golden Retriever can barely stop looking at owner after they return from holiday

The video’s on-screen caption explains the unusual moment with the Golden Retriever: “You return from vacation and your golden cannot stop staring.” Duzo stands near the bed and relentlessly stares at his owner. At one point, he even sticks his tongue out, then delivers what you could only describe as a flirty little wink. The owner mentions the wink in the caption, writing, “He winks too with love ”

If you have ever had a dog act extra clingy after you have been away, Duzo’s behavior might feel familiar. Dogs don’t understand vacations the way humans do. All they know is that their human left a little while ago, and now they are back. That intense staring can be their way of checking in, soaking you up, and making sure everything feels normal again to feel comfortable, find relief, and maybe a tiny bit of “please don’t go again.”

Viewers fell for Duzo’s intense devotion. One person wrote what the dog might have been thinking: “Making sure you don’t leave again,” while another commenter took a moment to remember their dog, writing, “I miss my Goldy. It’s been 10 months. Loved her so much.”

The Golden Retriever’s video is moving. Duzo doesn’t need a big reunion scene to show how he feels; he just stands there, smiling and staring like his whole world finally came back through the door.
